Introduction
There are a number of different types of bollards on the market and you will probably find that most are suppliers
to commercial or local authority situations. However, some can be adapted or used on your driveway or entrance and
it is a case of shopping around. These are generally permanent heavy duty fixings requiring a good deal of digging
out and casting in the ground, so expect a fair amount of disturbance. If you are not keen on this, then a temporary
system as described below may suit.
Fixed Concrete Bollards
For a decorative statement, added security, or whatever you need, a precast concrete bollard
can help add that finishing touch. An assortment of bollard sizes, shapes, and colours are available from round,
square, sphere, whimsical to classic or bold styles.
They are geometrically interesting and you can mix and match with similar bollards that include bollard lights, bollard speakers and bollard
signage, or as a stand alone bollard.
Temporary movable bollards
These can be moved around, but are mainly cosmetic and offer only indicative security rather than real defence.
Retractable and automatic bollards
These are the most popular style for your home or driveway. They can be lowered on a pivot, lifted out of their
mountings or raised and lowered using electricity and hyraulics (the most expensive).
